Simple update installed by my 14 year old daughter

This review will help you if you want to try it in Apple for the first time. My daughter has a 2009 aluminum unibody MacBook (model 1278, found on the bottom of the MacBook). It came with a 160GB hard drive and after 3 years and 20,000 photos it was several GB full. I found out how to replace the hard drive on ifixit.com. I ordered this Hitachi 500 GB 7200 RPM drive. Don't worry, the original is Sata and this one is Sata II. Doesn't matter. It is backward compatible. I was also told by ifixit…

Pros
  • Extended format, standard 4K sector size
Cons
  • Actually I don't like it, everything is fine

MacbookPro 2007 Update

This drive is silent. 7200 rpm makes it fast. It is installed on a MacbookPro 2007. I will update this review if there are any issues. I found some great suggestions on how to upgrade hard drive in Macbook Pro.1. Clone Mac to external drive with CarbonCopyCloner by downloading CNET for free or other reputable site. )2. Replace your Mac's internal drive using the very detailed and illustrated guide from the Extremetech.3 website. Plug in an external drive (I used FireWire) and turn on the Mac…

Pros
  • 512 byte emulation (512e)
Cons
  • There are errors

Noise when switching off and no software support.

I like it, but I have problems. This drive isn't as powerful as the Western Digital 7200 RPM laptops I've had in the past. However, its thickness is 7mm, which is required for new laptops. In terms of performance, it doesn't appear to be any faster than the 5400 rpm drive it replaced. The Windows score for the hard disk also remained the same. It hasn't increased. Every time I turn off my laptop or put it to sleep, the drive makes a very loud grinding noise as it spins and the head parks. I…

  • 7200 rpm high performance hard drive

Perfect for my Early 2008 15 " MacBook Pro

Seagate 160GB 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drive of my Late 2007/Early 2008 15" MacBook Pro got a little dusty in February 2011. week, so I got a lot busier making my daily SuperDuper backups to my external Firewire drive. Google SuperDuper if you need more information. I first replaced the defective Seagate drive in my MacBook Pro with a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 5400rpm 500GB Bulk/OEM 2.5" 8MB Cache 5400rpm SATA II WD5000BEVT hard drive and although it worked fine , the WD drive sometimes felt…

Pros
  • 7200 RPM High Performance Hard Drive
Cons
  • High Price

The Travelstar arrived on time in excellent condition

This hard drive was very easy to install in this old HP laptop, although first removing about 20 screws. (Check your computer's manual as most laptops only require removing a few screws.) I used a small tray to keep track of the tiny screws and to distinguish between the three different types of screws To make things easier, I created a bolt table. I used an external USB hard drive adapter with an old hard drive to transfer files and settings using a Windows program (by that name!). I copied…

Pros
  • 750GB capacity
Cons
  • No paint required
