Yes. It's expensive but worth every penny. I have your traditional American Hammer 8# and Fiskars. This splitting sledgehammer is by far the best. The steel that makes up the head and its point make it a more accurate wooden killer than your grandfather's sledgehammer. Excellent control and weight. The length of the handle allows me to split on the floor (I'm 6'4"). I've split about 5 lines so far and never bounced back. The metal guard plate is a big plus. This sledgehammer cuts through the brown one quickly Oak and Madron which I have in the yard. Both are fairly hard woods. I've used it on rounds I've been sitting on for months that have dried out quite a bit, and also on green wet oak. Not every first hit is broken up into large rounds (over 30"), but most are. Do yourself a favor and buy this. I hesitated, but I'm glad I did.
