This mattress protector is 100% waterproof.About a year ago I purchased a different mattress cover that claimed to be waterproof, put it on my kid's bed, and it's been fine. But after seeing comments that it wasn't really waterproof, I tested. Yes, you can spill a cup of water and it won't go through, but if you press/squeeze into it for a few seconds (or imagine an adult sleeping atop for several hours) it definitely goes through.Tested this mattress cover and it absolutely won't let liquid pass through. Took a cup of water, made a pouch with the fabric, and squeezed. Nothing escaped. Very happy!While I understand the reasoning behind cool/warm water wash and low heat - I don't have time for that or the tolerance for towels, sheets, socks, or underwear to be washed in germ coddling luke warm cleaning environments. This mattress cover got the hot water, high heat dryer treatment and held up beautifully. I've had others in the past where the waterproof material sticks to itself, but this one stayed perfect. It fit the mattress before washing and after, so as far as I can tell, it didn't shrink.As for "noise" there isn't any. I think the bamboo sheets placed on top create a slick sound when brushed up against, but the mattress cover beneath is silent.Great product! Am happily purchasing a second so bedding doesn't have to be washed in a single day.
