Yes, it slides down the backpack strap but is easy to attach. The attachment above it keeps it stable and it cannot slide over it. You can use any backpack strap, pull a decorative strap or devil through, even a safety pin to keep the clasp "hooking" so it stays in place. .The swivel mount feels solid and supports 360° rotation, not just corner stops like an 8 or 10 position switch.

Quick Change Base makes it easy to move the camera between different mounts and locations.
