Really soft and really fluffy foam. You can find this foam in the extremely soft stuffed animals that are available in the market. I usually use chopped foam for my bed pillow, but I wanted to see how this one is. I also immediately ordered another foam which is said to be crushed as well, but when I received it I quickly realized that it was more like crushed foam. Luckily I also ordered this foam which I am mixing with another to make two semi-soft pillows for my bed. I don't know if it could be because one of the foams was shredded and the other cut, making two of the same weights appear significantly different in the package size, but I do know that smaller pieces can take up less space. I assume it's the weight on the label. I think if both bags were ripped and soft like this one I wouldn't like it because the pillow is too soft for me. Mixing two different foams worked well for what I like as a pillow.
