I want to love this tank! I do! It's so unique and easy to assemble. However, my beta fish has significant design flaws in terms of functionality, usability, and security. The purity of the water is my main concern and it has become very demanding. While it's a thoughtful design, I'm not sure if this is a filtration system. My water never stays clean. The biOrb Classic 15 was my first experience with a gravel filter system. I was attracted to the biOrb system and had high hopes for a unique design that would hide all cables and aquarium paraphernalia. However, I was expecting a great pool for the price. Apart from getting the aquarium dirty very quickly, everything in the aquarium will be enlarged and distorted. Reading this in other reviews I liked being able to see my beautiful fish even bigger. What I didn't notice was that in some places in the tank it completely disappeared due to the curvature of the plexiglass and created a lot of cover. Since Betas tend to linger at the top of the tank I would have a hard time finding him unless he was hovering near the center of the tank. Beta didn't seem to appreciate a drop. A small car will vibrate loudly unless strategically positioned and shaken to remain silent. I would probably like to add a suction cup in the future to keep it in place. Instead, I put a washcloth underneath and easily tucked it in a corner. For the first month I couldn't tell if my water quality was bad. I was so intrigued by the tank itself. I hadn't planned anything special for maintenance, just the recommended filter change and a partial water change by pumping the water out from the bottom of the tank. The whole tank was so dirty that I decided to clean everything and start over. I know it's bad for my fish but when I was disturbed the water got gross. For the next month I did a complete water change every week and at the end of each week the water was still completely dirty with debris. I thought maybe the dirty water problem was caused by a change in current. After all, tank manufacturers have not just included an adapter. I placed another fish with full current and no decoration for a few more weeks. The filter really started to work better, but the water is still dirty. The LED version is very bright. (The MCR variant is better as you can change colors and dim the lights.) Again, this is a unique tank. I want this beauty to match my Beta who prefers calmer, clearer water and more subdued lights. I would not recommend this tank for a beta. I hope the creators of biOrb find a way to better satisfy beta owners by giving our fish the unique homes they deserve. Sharpen.
