Review on STEEL MATE Compressor Motorcycle Inflatables by Matthew Outlaw

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Impossible to use it properly to inflate a single SUV tire with an unreliable defect

It seemed a little useless at first if you think that this compact compressor can fill a 265/70/16 SUV Can inflate tires from 10 psi. . Well, that was bad, and I think it can only "inflate" car tires, not fully inflate them when you have a flat tire. So in my testing, starting at 10psi, the unit only reached 23psi, not the preset value. 34 I turned on the compressor. The reason it didn't get close to 34 was because the unit shut down due to overheating after exactly 5 minutes of continuous use on a cool (69F) night. I thought it was dead but I waited about 20 minutes to see if it would restart and turn back on and it did. I couldn't count on taking this anywhere and leaving it in the car as it takes a while to fully charge and expires relatively quickly, although I wasn't able to complete a tire pumping task . The device is quite noisy for its size. , but I don't have another compressor of this type to compare as I've only used conventional 12v battery compressors. This compressor can work with a bike tire and sports gear as the air volume is much smaller for this tiny thing, but I have not tested this Steel Mate compressor after a thermal shutdown/reset. It is advertised with the possibility of filling a mobile home. Tires, I don't think my test tire came close to being a plus size tire, but perhaps the manufacturer can step in and respond.
