Cloth books are great for all of this
Our baby (under 6 months) loves to touch and taste books and flip through the pages. Cloth books are great for all of this. Faces are the most interesting to look at, even animal faces. And apparently felt bear paws are the tastiest. It's good quality and it's machine washable and we'd do it again but it should last for years.
