This beautiful melamine tableware has a plastic coating that will come off after a few cycles in the dishwasher. They say "top shelf only" but no matter where you put them, that thin coating will start peeling off in no time. If you plan to hand wash these dishes, it might be perfect for you. If you (or anyone in your family) are going to put them in the dishwasher, keep looking (unless you like plastic in your food). I have other brands that don't have this flaky finish but they cost more.
