These water shoes have a perfect fit - I especially love the lace on the back for a snug fit. The day they arrived, I proudly placed them on my pool-ready summer feet and tightened the rope. On the slippery sidewalks of my suburban area, I walked about a block to a nearby swimming pool. As I sat on the sun lounger, I crossed my leg and looked at what 10 minutes ago was a beautiful studded sole. . . to see that a short walk on concrete had sanded the tread almost flat at the heels, leaving the rest of the bottom frayed and torn. On the second day, I wore them to hike across a rock-lined forest stream. Towards the end of the wet transition, the mesh in the toe box began to separate from the sole and the insole liner detached when I took off my shoes to inspect the hole in the toe box. I tried to smooth out the insole again, but it remained crumpled under my toes. The third day I put them on, I went fishing in a flat-bottomed, smooth-bottomed boat. Now that I've worn them twice, my big toes on both feet were sticking out through the mesh. It wasn't ripped, they just ripped off the sole and left a hole on either side. Luckily I always carry duct tape with me! I taped the toes of both shoes completely with duct tape, which also eased the crushing effect of walking on the sidewalk. I recommend that you choose the matching color of tape when purchasing these shoes so you can extend their life beyond the three days they fell apart on mine.
