Review on KZ FBA_4330330199 Balanced Earphones Headphone by John Twardowski

good value; good sound

From time to time I buy some inexpensive headphones to replace lost or worn out ones. I use headphones with my phone, mp3 player and laptop. For the last year and a half I prefer balanced armature headphones based on solid advice from a friend. He noted that BA headphones tend to fall somewhere between inexpensive single-speaker headphones and more expensive multi-speaker headphones. I found that the BA headphones were generally better balanced (deep bass with no unnatural accent, extended highs with no harshness) than non-BA speakers. You *could* spend big bucks on BA headphones, but (IMO) you shouldn't. The Beteran KZ-ATE plugins have the smooth tonal balance I've come to expect. The cables on the KZ-ATE are a bit stiffer than my other coiled cord headphones. Beteran had the foresight to add a little weight to the wires to keep them in place over the ears. (It's helpful to wrap the wire in the crease between your ear and head to reduce handling noise and prevent the earbuds from being pulled out of your ears.) Only downsides: due to the larger body. (These are the first headphones to *not* have a cylindrical body.) 2) Despite the fact that various ear tips are included, the Beteran headphones didn't include the triple-flanged silicone ear tips, which I prefer. for fit and insulation. (Three-flange cleats would probably solve the fitting problem.) All in all, I'd recommend them, but you can order some three-flange cleats if you need good insulation.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Doesn't work for everything
