For a small aquarium with low to medium white light needs, seems to work well. My aquarium has been running for about 3 weeks now and the plants are fine. The remote control is powered by a wired sensor that you place so that the instrument can detect the remote control. There is a 24/7 mode, but from 21:00 to 12:00 it is too bright; should be off by 3pm or very dark I think. There's no indication of what mode it's in, so using the remote can be confusing. In 24/7 mode, other buttons do not work. There are 4 memory buttons, but the settings for each LED color are in 10% increments, so choosing the color you want (unless you want white, green, red, or blue) isn't an option, especially if you want a color wish with low intensity. I think it reverts to the mode it was in when power is removed. I turned it off and the light intensity returned. I'm not entirely happy with this as 24/7 isn't what I expected, for example 11pm is too bright. Also you set the time with the preset time of day buttons and from now on it's basically a 24- Hourly timer that is easy to use. Works well when used manually. I might try a timer simply because I find the 24/7 mode too bright for late evening. With LEDs, some are tricolor and some are white.
