Review on 3M Safety Walk Slip Resistant General 620 Occupational Health & Safety Products by Bobby Martinez

Top quality - worth the money but attracts dirt and is difficult to clean

If you need steps that people can't slip or get injured on then you've come to the right place. Don't be put off by the high price. Sure, it's a lot more expensive than the competition's products, but you get exactly what you pay for. I have been struggling with slippery stairs in various properties for myself, tenants and/or customers for over 20 years. For example, outer wooden steps that become like rollers when it rains, inner polished wooden steps that don't need to get wet to be fatal even if you hold on to both handrails and are in good condition. In the past, I've mostly used brush-applied products like Skid No More (a thick, paint-like product that includes a suspension made from polished used car tires to create traction) or inferior third-party tape that, even in dry indoor weather, can damage the edges start peeling off quickly, which sometimes becomes more dangerous than what I was trying to solve by putting the tape in the first place! Other tapes may work for a while, but they're usually very visible, making any staircase they're taped to look unattractive and out of place in the house. This 3M Clear Tape is characterized by being virtually invisible on the polished wooden stairs to which it is applied. Space Age adhesive in its sustainability. And the traction is exceptionally strong, yet the surface is comfortable to walk barefoot on (which I do every day). I can't praise this particular product or 3M in general - has 3M ever released a product that wasn't best in class? If so, then I don't know. Update 2 years later (5/6/2016): I just removed this tape from my polished wooden staircase and replaced it with Bona Professional Traffic Anti-Slip (which is a urethane based wooden floor finish) which I have applied to my floors in the past year and found it very effective in increasing traction, but without the major downside of 3M tape, which attracts dirt (sock lint, dust, dirt). ) like a magnet and it is VERY difficult to remove dirt from its surface. The only way to do this was to use a cleaning brush every week and even then I've never been able to maintain a clean look.
