Review on 🐢 Vet's Best Breath Freshener Water Additive for Dogs & Puppies, 16oz - Veterinarian Formulated by Sandy Johnson

Use with caution but it works

We have used some of these water supplements to improve oral health (and dog breathing) in our Bull Terriers. They're generally pretty good at helping with breathing, but since they're "supplements" (and not regulated by any regulator or agency), you never know what you're getting with them or how it might affect your dog. It contains two ingredients – neem oil (which is not normally recommended for oral use, although it is suitable for topical use) and thyme oil – which are of concern to dogs when taken orally; However, there is no indication of HOW MANY of these ingredients are in this solution, so it is impossible to assess how they might affect your pet. My husband is a veterinarian and he checks anything we give our puppies before allowing me to use it. He approved this for one of our dogs because she has vulture gut and can eat almost anything but didn't want me to give it to our pup with IBS and severe allergies because he was concerned about how it might affect his gut. I added it to the water I leave my girlfriend when we go (we keep them separate when we go because they get too crazy together and tear things up lol). She's had access to it for a few weeks now and her breathing has definitely improved (we brush and brush our teeth but overall her breath is still bad). She didn't have a gastrointestinal condition, but we started with a small amount and worked our way up to the recommended dose. She feels comfortable and shows no side effects. I will keep giving it to her but once it runs out I probably won't order again because there is another brand on the market that we can use for both puppies because it doesn't have those ingredients. If your dog tolerates it and takes small doses, this is probably normal. However, since one of my dogs has a SUPER sensitive system, we won't even try to give it to him. I'd suggest trying it if you're interested (it works), but inject slowly and watch for signs your dog isn't intolerant.

Pros
  • A year long trial
Cons
  • Not the best
