Review on PetSafe Replacement High Traction Tread Folding by Stephanie Ingram

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works at 110# Chocolate Lab!

Very light (I can lift it with one hand), folds easily and doesn't take up much space in my car. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND replacing the sandpaper, eg "Traction" coating with carpet for more grip. The sandpaper was like my dog trying to climb Emory's steep board and there was no traction at all. I went to Home Depot, they cut me a 6ft by 1ft piece of Berber rug for indoor/outdoor use, which I then cut into two 3ft lengths to even out the crease. I removed the sandpaper (which came off cleanly) and taped the rug securely with double sided tape. I left it on for 24 hours before my dog used it. We trained for that. If it was carpet I would give 5 stars. It works well and my dog got used to it very quickly. I followed the advice of others and started exercising indoors on a flat surface, just bribing him with treats. Then it went down to curb level, then I used it on my car (Ford Explorer) and did it DOWN first (including treats). When I pick him up we scatter a bit and I hold him by the collar just to send him straight up the ladder. He is a very large 10 year old chocolate lab and getting in and out has become a chore and agony for him, especially jumping off. Now he doesn't want to get in or out without a ramp, so full of success! And he's still waiting for treats, but who cares, he's a Labrador! >:-) Check out the photos showing how I upgraded the coating. And the happy face of the dog that uses it every day!
