Needle often gets stuck, even on flat glass tables with no metal. I have a small $2 compass that is vastly superior to this one in accuracy and quality. I was hoping to use this with my lens compass to stay on course while hiking. If you shake it and play with it a bit and keep it perfectly level, you can get it to about 30 degrees of accuracy. (not my idea of usefulness) As soon as you hold it in your hands you realize that it is very light and of poor quality. To be honest I can't think of any other use for it than filling a trash can.
