I've tried several USB-C enclosures. Basically, it's expensive junk. For some reason this guy is only $13 and works great. It's USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 10Gbps, metal and fast. With a 1 TB Samsung 850, I tested a write speed of 460 MB/s and a read speed of 515 MB/s. It comes with a good USB-C to USB-C cable that isn't too short. Pros: - Fast - Reliable - Affordable - Sturdy metal construction - Detachable logic board - USB-C 10 Gbps - Includes a good cable. Cons: - Not screwless (nbd) - Doesn't include foam to protect thin drives (pretty safe anyway) - Reportedly incompatible with Linux (doesn't affect most people) - Blue light is too bright - Looks like there's no power saving mode – always on as long as power is available (e.g. from a powered USB-C hub). It's hard to find many faults with it. Let's see how long this lasts.
