(just wrote a long review on this product and was about to send it but the words are gone! So it will be much shorter and to the point!) My first impressions: 1.) The box was much smaller then I expected, especially for the price I paid. 2) appeared heavy and very well built on Christmas morning: 1.) when my son opened this gift he was EXTREME! By the time he was 2 he was a puzzle master and obsessed with dinosaurs! He immediately wanted to stop opening presents and collect those puzzles! Opening the box: 1.) The plastic this box was wrapped in was easy to hit, but the wooden lid on the box itself wasn't. My son couldn't open it himself so he needed help. It also took me some effort to remove as the cut out areas for the lid to slide in and out are quite tough. I think that's a good thing because after a lot of use you don't want the lid to slide off on its own. 2.) It took him about 5-7 minutes to put each puzzle together. The pictures on each puzzle were very detailed and colorful. 3.) I was concerned that the paper images on the wooden parts would peel off after prolonged use. 4.) There are shapes on the back of each piece to help you identify which pieces go together. . Also in the box there is a separate compartment for each puzzle. When he finished the puzzles I asked him to take them apart and mix them together and then separate them by matching the shapes when they were put back in the box. We noticed that 2 of the puzzles had VERY similar shapes on the back. This can be a problem depending on your child's age and maturity. Overall impression after 1 year of use: 1.) This has been my son's favorite puzzle set since he got it. He has several times preferred these riddles to other riddles he has. 2.) The puzzle pieces and storage box are still in excellent condition. No torn, peeled or missing paper in pieces or boxes and no broken or loose wood on the box. They are in good condition. 3.) The storage box and the shapes on the puzzle pieces make him REALLY WANT to put the puzzles away when he's done with them (YES!) 4.) The recommended age might be a bit off (IMO). It says 3 years and up but my son was 2 when we got this and now at age 3 he doesn't use these puzzles as much as he used to because each puzzle needs exactly that amount to put it together, about 2 minutes. I definitely recommend this puzzle set. After about 6-8 months of CONTINUOUS use, the puzzle pieces and storage box still look brand new!
