Review on Walker SoundFX 18142 Exhaust Muffler for Optimal Automotive Performance and Enhanced Sound by Vedprakash Trilltight

I bought this to use my lawn mower because my neighbors always complain about how noisy it is when I mow. I didn't know how big it really was until I got it. So I took it to my local muffler shop and had it cut off just to go over my little piece of pipe coming out of the head of my 3hp Briggs and Stratton engine. Then I had an issue with the mower tearing off the side it was mounted on and sagging in the deck and making a horrible noise. I took it to a local weld shop and they welded a support bracket to the deck and to the end of the muffler along with a piece of thick plate on the other side to offset the weight of the muffler. Let me tell you this is a silent mower now. What annoys me is that I can't access things on the right side and have to cut a lot of trees, plus my mower is a lot heavier than before which isn't great on my bikes. My wheels are white plastic in the middle with black hard tread. They were already tipped at the top because my deck was rusting where they were attached and the extra weight was rubbing them against the deck making it difficult to slide and it cuts about an inch deeper than it used to and I have also quite a patch of rock that I had to mow. The wheels aren't adjustable, so I ended up using a few blades a week at times. I finally came to my senses and removed the blade, took it to the weld shop where it was heated and the ends bent about 1 1/2 inches, Walla! No more shattering rocks hitting my legs, house and cars. It's still hard to press, but it's very quiet. My neighbor was watching me the other day and just stopped and stared at me, I don't think he could believe how quiet it was. Overall I'm happy with the silencer and the performance. I just wish it was a little brighter. Update: I would suggest putting a heat shield on this muffler, my son parked it next to our 18 x 20cm above ground pool and left it on to have a drink, well he wouldn't. You know, unfortunately the muffler burned through the pool wall and spilled into my mower like a tidal wave. Turned it upside down and filled the motor with water. I pulled the plug, drained all the water, but now it's blue smoke. I've since cut and re-welded the muffler which has a few pointing straight up so it doesn't touch things as easily. It blows a lot of exhaust fumes and heat in my face, but on a windy day mowing it's not too bad. The muffler is still quiet, and that's the main thing. My son refused to mow it because he said his eyes burned and itched and his throat hurt for a week, blaming this for the hot smoke from the exhaust blowing in his face and his back hurt, because the rear wheels just stuck and hardly roll. Sounds like a typical 6 year old who doesn't want to do housework, right. I will admit that at his size and with the muffler tilted back slightly the tip of the muffler is close to his face so I may need to adjust it a little then maybe I can get him mowing again. Updated: 7/2/20. I would suggest putting a deadening rain cover over this muffler if you are mounting it straight or semi straight. Eventually my son agreed to use the lawn mower again but left it outside and it was raining cats and dogs. It flooded or climbed into the exhaust, filling my engine with water through the exhaust pipe and sat for 9 days while we were in town. The mower will not start at all. I took it to a local shop and the engine repair cost me $200. They tried to sell me a new one but I didn't budge. The mechanic said he had never seen a muffler that big on a push mower and couldn't believe how quiet it was. With the new piston and rings there is no more smoke so the exhaust isn't too bad and I asked him to adjust it during the rebuild so it wasn't blowing right in our faces. Runs well and quietly. I would recommend this silencer.☀
