This is a decent belt made out of fairly thick leather. It is slightly stiffer than most business and leisure belts. For flight safety: the buckle attracts a magnet, as does the small steel clip on the back of the belt loop. Since the buckle is easy to replace by undoing the two non-magnetic latches, I replaced the steel buckle with a brass buckle from an old dress belt and replaced the steel belt loop with a piece of nylon rope. With these modifications, I was able to easily pass the metal detector at the airport.
