Unusual Use Case: Perfect, fun spacer for outdoor solar lights

The current design of outdoor solar lights is such that the tensioners that hold the light in place fail after a few weeks. You'll have to travel around the yard, tighten those inexpensive plastic nuts, and realign the solar panel and/or light. Tent pegs are one solution for attaching solar lights, but with steel having gotten so expensive lately it didn't seem worth it. . Enter the plastic pin - like these items UST Zinx. As shown in the photo taking light (it's also required for the panel on other occasions) they work well as staples and have the added benefit of playful, extra lighting as they glow in the dark. Camping is a rare occurrence for us, but we have a lot of solar lanterns that go missing.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...
