Not exactly quiet, but very quiet.

I am a very quiet person looking for a mini pc for use in a studio environment and this is my last try. I've perused here on Revane and returned to a few because they didn't live up to their "silent" claims. When something tells me to be silent, I expect absolute silence. This is particularly important as I must reiterate that it is intended for studio use. A mini PC with a fan was out of the question as it was always revving up and making noise, so I quickly switched to completely fanless options. The problem here seems to be that companies are struggling to make mini PC boards. Even without a fan, every mini PC I've tried has an electrical coil vibration noise. I even took them apart and coated the boards with an obnoxious amount of silicone to little to no effect. Unfortunately, this computer is no different, it actually emits a spool noise when turned on. Fortunately, the noise level for this particular mini PC is low enough that it's only noticeable when your ear is about a foot away, making it perfect for the application required. Oddly enough, the audio gets noticeably louder when it's off. electrical noise coming from this little PC that can be heard across the room if you listen closely and easily heard if you stand closer. It wasn't a problem for me or anything that caught my eye as it essentially works 24/7. In terms of performance, the Celeron is surprisingly capable, handling 4k playback and basic DAW tasks with ease. However, the sound card is rubbish for any audio work, so make sure you get a dedicated interface to get rid of that lag, but only for music listening and normal consumer activities. that's because of the smaller form factor, dual HDMI ports, and lack of that odd orange hue. I would definitely like to try this PCG35 GLK one day, but I can't justify the price if this PC already meets all my needs. Overall, this machine is surprisingly powerful and impressive. Mini PCs have come a very long way!
