The sound quality of this small speaker is quite good. When you plug it in and aren't playing music or video, there's a low-frequency hum, but that's okay. Once you play the audio it sounds solid. Now for MacBook users like me. It's not just plug and play. When you plug it in, go to the volume control and switch the audio output from the internal speakers to USB. Otherwise you will all get upset like me and put the column in a return and leave a negative review on this product. I'm not sure if some PC platforms are similar. So if you plugged it in and it won't play, check your settings first. Also, don't forget that this isn't a preamplified speaker, so it won't be any louder than your internal speakers. I bought this speaker to use with Netflix on my MacBook while pedaling my exercise bike instead of wearing Bluetooth headphones, but it didn't quite work. The speaker has a fuller sound than the built-in speakers, so leave it anyway.
