Review on πŸ”Œ iXCC 10ft Extra Long Male to Male 3.5mm Universal Aux Audio Stereo Cable - Compatible with All 3.5mm-Enabled Devices by Veronica Williams

NOT double shielded. Marginal shielding at best. A sign with 50% coverage.

Very disappointed with this cable. Although I usually choose the iXCC cable, this one is wrong and the product description is just plain wrong. This cable has very minimal shielding and is a far cry from the double shielding claimed in the product description. For clarity, wire *shield*, by convention, means an electrically conductive coating(s) surrounding one or more internal signal conductors. Wired *jackets* are non-conductive outer layers that provide physical protection to the cable's internal structures. To discuss shielding, google "Belden Shielding and Armoring" and see Belden's white paper, which tops the list. This cable is lightly shielded, but has two very good outer layers. Maybe the iXCC should claim that this cable has a double jacket. No double shielding! Why this matters to me: I wanted to cut this cable in half and use it to connect two devices to be used as part of a ham radio station. The double shielding as specified in the product description is important in the radio frequency environment of the radio transmitter. This particular cable is only lightly shielded with one turn of shield wire and has only about 50% shield coverage. This is really minimal shielding - even for home use - and not at all what I expected or stated. Sorry iXCC. You failed me with this cable.
