There is currently no competing product in the US OTC market with the same combined potassium nitrate and fluoride potency as this one. However, when I called Colgate to inquire about the suspect expiration date (3 months from order date), they informed me that this product was discontinued in August 2014. They also said based on the batch number on the tube that the product they sent me was manufactured in November 2013. That means it's been on the shelf for almost two years. According to Colgate, the product will not "spoil" but the effectiveness of the active ingredients will diminish over time and environmental conditions - something to keep in mind as you will no longer be able to re-order this product.
