I just received this headset and I am very satisfied. I was a little skeptical when I read reviews that said their headsets had a bad smell, but I didn't notice any bad smell. In fact, they smelled brand new, like the smell of a new car. They also looked brand new. Mine didn't come in the original packaging but everything that was supposed to come with the headset was in the box it came in and was packaged nicely. First I connected them to the phone and listened to music. Music quality is very good! Nothing spectacular or overwhelming for music, but what can you expect from a gaming headset? Let's move on to gaming performance. Wow. They sound great playing Modern Warfare on Xbox One. I was able to locate my enemies easily, game sounds were crisp and clear, bass was definitely present without being overwhelming, and shots sounded great. My buddies immediately noticed the difference in mic quality. Coming from the Turtle Beach Stealth 600, they had mediocre sound quality at best and the mic was absolute crap. My teammates could never hear me speaking normally, so I had to shout into the mic if I wanted to be heard. But with Alpha, my teammates heard me loud and clear every time. They never had to ask me "what?" and I was never ignored because they didn't even hear me. Because I'm playing on Xbox One, I can't buy and use Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound. You can buy adapters for them, but I found a solution. By purchasing Dolby Atmos surround sound for $15 and then enabling them in the Xbox settings for the headphones, I was able to get full virtual surround sound out of them. And as the name suggests, they look like a cloud sitting on your head. The ear pads are very soft and made of faux leather. The headband has fairly soft, comfortable padding that sits comfortably on the head. To be honest, you hardly notice they're even upside down. The only downside that some people might find in terms of comfort is that due to the fact that the ear pads are made of faux leather, your ears can get a bit warm after a long game play. I would say these headphones are pretty impressive. I looked at Cloud 2, Sennheiser GSP 300 and Steelseries Arctis 5. I'm very glad I chose Alpha and will stick with Hyper X going forward.
