The sticky pads that come with them leave semi-permanent sticky things on your wall (or wherever you put them) that are difficult to clean, so I used Command Strips. This is the only disadvantage of this way. It can hold your phone horizontally or vertically, and when it's vertical, the cable fits easily into the slot at the bottom. I've been using it for about 4 weeks and it works the way I need it to.
