Review on Walking Trekking Poles Lightweight Backpacking by Bob Fasho

Overall good but a bit awkward

This is my second set of racquets, my other set is a pair of Komperdells from 15 years ago. I still prefer Komperdells for reasons I'll explain, but they also seem to be pretty good, although I can't say how long they will last. These poles remind me a bit of tent poles in the way they fold. All segments are connected by a cable running inside. You connect all the segments and then pull another section from above, which tensions the cable and holds the pieces together. Tension is held by a metal button that can be depressed to release tension and fold the segments. Then there's the height adjustment, which can be used by loosening the plastic clip and sliding the handle up or down. It's all a bit awkward, but you can fold the bar down to a relatively small size of around 14 inches. Total weight with just snow attachment is 10 ounces. The bars feel sturdy, although the plastic resizing clip feels a bit cheap, and I'm a little worried about the long-term viability of the metal button that holds the segments in place, considering it's always under Cable tension stands when rod is not installed. not folded. . It's possible this could go on forever, I just don't know. Comparatively, Komperdells are slightly lighter when equipped with a similar snow attachment, weighing 8 ounces. Expanding and resizing are the same, just drag to expand and rotate to lock. That's all. They are stable and very reliable. The downside to this ease of use is that they fold down to around 24 inches, making them a little less convenient to toss in a suitcase if you're traveling with them. In general, Parbat sticks are cheaper and more compact when folded, but Komperdells are easier to use, proven reliable, and lighter.

Pros
  • If you have trouble assembling the racks, watch the video. Some items may be very tight when you first open them. Apply pressure until the pop-up button appears. It becomes easy after using 5-6 times.
Cons
  • A few little things
