Worked great until the USB charger failed after 4 years

I used this to add some handy power and USB ports to my son's bookshelf headboard. He used to use an extension cord and two USB chargers, but that was a bit messy. This unit mounts directly to the headboard with a screw to hold it in place and now has two grounded power outlets in addition to two USB ports. The right angle plug will not be damaged between the bed and the wall. The cable to this device is also very long. The only downside is that the flattened, rectangular power plug is quite large. A hole was pre-drilled at the head of my son's bed for the power cord. Any three wire cable will fit, but not this one. I simply used a knife to trim off the excess plastic/rubber on the corners of the square connector and it went right through. Can't return it now but looks like I won't need it. Update 08/31/2021: Attempting to charge an iPhone or iPad results in either no charging indicator or the message "This accessory is not supported". ". I thought the cables were bad until I realized that the cables work fine with other chargers, so I took a USB tester and found that the charger's voltage dropped rapidly as the charge current increased. At 0 .09A it drops below 5.0 and below 4V at 0.16A Most devices will stop charging below 4V and the charger should maintain 5.0V at maximum current (2.40A for this charger) Many other competing products with more features at better prices became available I would not buy this again.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Long delivery time
