Better than expected

Having bought the 512GB model I was expecting write speeds below 1GB/s. To my surprise, the device's bandwidth was much closer to the 1TB model, utilizing all four PCIe 3.0 lanes instead of just two as I expected. Detailed drive info and speed test screenshots are attached (on a Mid 2018 13" MBP, manually reformatted to HFS+ Journaled and running macOS 10.15.2). -Frill. The packaging looks ugly, simple and cheap. So the end product is in some ways much better than the first impression it gives. So far there have been no issues with the drive and other than the enduring reliability of the connector I don't see any potential issues. PS: If the built-in TB cable breaks, it becomes inconvenient - but then again, it's MUCH more stable compared to the original detachable TB3 cable from my eGPU (Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck RX560). Unlike the latter, I can actually touch it and move the laptop without worrying about losing the connection and crashing the application (or worse, the entire OS due to a kernel panic).

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • I won't say anything
