Impressive speed, no thermal throttling, great price

I bought the 1TB version of this NVMe SSD to backup my late 2018 MacBook Pro's 1TB internal SSD, which cost around $80 % is full. From scratch, after formatting to APFS (which is done very quickly), this drive completed a full backup in about 20 minutes! It showed no signs of thermal throttling. If you have a computer with Thunderbolt 3, this is a fantastic drive and amazing value based on my early experience. I'll update this review if anything changes, but for now I'm thrilled. It's a worthy…

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Expensive

Buyers should beware if you require warranty

The drive itself has worked flawlessly so far, but dealing with this company to register the product and activate the warranty was really strange. I bought the disc as a gift for my husband and they refuse to register the product on his behalf even after he sent the original order email I received from Revain a picture of the disc with the serial number and a Provided screenshot of order history. I have never dealt with a company that has refused to honor their warranties so now I am concerned…

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Weak Kit

Better than expected

Having bought the 512GB model I was expecting write speeds below 1GB/s. To my surprise, the device's bandwidth was much closer to the 1TB model, utilizing all four PCIe 3.0 lanes instead of just two as I expected. Detailed drive info and speed test screenshots are attached (on a Mid 2018 13" MBP, manually reformatted to HFS+ Journaled and running macOS 10.15.2). -Frill. The packaging looks ugly, simple and cheap. So the end product is in some ways much better than the first impression it gives.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Great product at a great price.

I waited a bit before posting my review. I have the 512GB version and use it as a boot drive on my Mac Pro and as a Time Machine backup. It was fairly error free when I formatted correctly. The speed is very fast as expected. Runs pretty cool and honestly no problems delivered. Now even better is the 1TB version ($179). Yes, the cable is tight, but that's not a problem for me. It is reportedly covered by a 3-year warranty if you register the product. I did this but have not received anything…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Expensive

I received this yesterday. It looks very well made and heavy, with noticeable cooling fins. It runs cooler than another Thunderbolt 3 SSD I've bought and returned. Never more than slightly warm in the hand. Formatted it for Mac and copied my Final Cut Pro library to it. This works very well. So good that I decided to measure the read/write speeds. In my Blackstone test program, it showed speeds of around 2350/1950 Gb/s, which compares very well to the speed of the internal SSD on my new Macbook

Pros
  • Hands free
Cons
  • No insurance

The actuator is triggered when the cable is bent in a certain way.

The drive is lightning fast and more powerful than my Mac mini's internal drive. That is, if it stays connected. Unfortunately, the drive snaps out when the cable is bent in a certain way. I don't mean extreme curves. Simply bending the cable as shown in the product description will turn off the status light and turn off the drive. This is a real problem for me as I bought it to use as the boot drive for my 2018 Mac mini. I don't think it could be used as a portable drive as even a slight…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Nothing
