The best solution for non-slip steps on any surface

A few days ago I received anti-slip tape and put it on the internal staircase on the second floor - a typical old house with 1 bathroom upstairs. There are no children but there is a woman who insists on falling down the steps because she says they are slippery. Three meter high ceilings mean 14 steps. I cut them into 2ft lengths so I have 5ft left over to use outdoors. Cutting with scissors was easy; I rounded the corners so they won't snag when cleaning. Marked 4 inches from the wall to keep the steps straight. I peeled off the backing paper halfway down the long side and folded it down to make it easier to install them straight. I placed them close to the front edge. Steps about an eighth of an inch. Align the front and remove the rest from the back. I used a block of wood and a hammer to tap each step of the tape so it sticks well. I hope I never have to take them off; they stick very well. These are wooden steps that have been painted over but worn down from use so they actually look better with the steps glued in place. I thought of rounding off the tape at the nose of each tread and sewing under the leading edge, but then I would have to place another piece in the middle of the tread. The tape needs to be at least 6 inches wide for this to be practical, but it is possible if you need to round the tape around the front edge of the step. However, be aware that you may end up scratching the toe of your shoe if you are not very careful when climbing stairs. The 80-grit finish feels almost right; good grip but still not so rough that I can't walk on it barefoot. Time will tell how well they hold up but they appear to be well made so I expect a reasonably long lifespan. 4" wide is a good size as it only requires one step per step; 2" tape requires you to apply two strips of tape, which is a lot more work. I bought two rolls of tape because I have basement steps (also out of wood) that I'm going to make next, and a few cement steps in the front and back outside. My only concern with using this tape on the outside is whether it will hold up well enough in the winter to not get ripped off with a snow shovel , but judging by the tape I put on the inside I don't think that would be a problem. It's comfortable, easy to use, customizable and does its job very well which is why I give this volume 5 stars If the band doesn't last long enough with use I'll reconsider my rating but for now it's definitely 5 stars.
