Review on πŸ’Ώ Pinnacle Dazzle DVD Recorder HD: High-Definition Video Capture & Editing Device for PC by Mike Johnston

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Absolutely terrible product (hardware and software). return for refund.

I bought this product to replace my original (red) Dazzle DVC100 Rev 1.1 which no longer has Dazzle Studio v11.1.2 installed on Windows 10. I have a fully patched x64 version of Windows 10 and a fairly new Lenovo laptop, so I was looking forward to the x64 version of Pinnacle Studio. (1) The version shipped was v23 (one year old) and the system asked me to pay $80 to upgrade to v24. (2) Dazzle Studio v23 UI is terrible, lacking expected video editing controls, options or any kind of UI logic. (3) Included (Black) The Dazzle Video Capture USB v1.0 unit has choppy video and audio and I've tried S-Video and RCA connections. I have confirmed the variability issue when streaming videos through VLC. This is clearly a hardware issue, not a software issue. The funny thing is that my original 10 year old (red) Dazzle works better than the new (black) Dazzle. (4) The Corel website is absolutely terrible when it comes to repairing or supporting a product. You won't find anything there. (5) I started reading web forums and noticed that many users report the same video/video sync, dropped frames and audio/video stuttering on all Windows 10 20H2 builds. This (note the latest) build has been out for a while, but Corel hasn't bothered to fix the Dazzle driver. I cannot confirm that the product will work with previous versions of Windows 10 as all my systems are fully up to date, current and patched. There is no way out of the situation other than returning the goods for a full refund. (Please see my photos and the terrible video quality the import produced). Very disappointed!
