Review on Alpinestars Mens Belize Drystar Boot: Quality Waterproof Footwear for Outdoors by Brian Graham

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Overall great boots but read the comments.

I bought Alpinestars Drystar low cut boots. Please note that everyone's foot size is different, in one way or another. This rating is based on my physique and experience. (I'm 5'8", 184 lbs and have a 9 1/2" narrow foot.) Overall, I'm very pleased with these boots. My #1 priority is comfort and my #2 priority is safety. And I'll sacrifice some overall comfort for more security. My last pair of boots for a couple of years were the Timberland Pros Logger boots (not even motorcycle boots but they offered comfort and good protection). These Alphinestars Drystar boots are much more comfortable than I expected. After reading some of the reviews that these boots are extremely stiff and feel like you're in a snowboard or ski boot, I was a bit concerned. After many years on the slopes I can say that these boots are not as stiff as snowboard boots and certainly not as stiff as ski boots. These Alpinestars are actually comfortable walkers (if your walks are short/less than a mile). I would not recommend them for long trail hiking adventures. But overall very comfortable when walking and especially when riding. Pros: They appear to be very high quality safety boots. The hard shell provides ample foot/ankle protection if you drop your bike on your foot or hit an object. Not as difficult as I expected to put on and take off these boots. You can wear them comfortably all day long. (Again, not going for long, long walks or hikes. But good for going to a national park, visitor center, or restaurant, etc.) Not as hot as I expected them to be on my feet in 80 degree weather. (Yes, you can ride with probably cooler boots in the summer, but then again you sacrifice safety. And I'm already pretty hot, at least when I'm not on my bike, due to my clothing, impact armor - back, chest, Shoulders, elbows, hips, knees, either in or under my riding jacket/pants. So it doesn't matter and I rarely notice they're hot.) They fit my leg great. Not too tight and slightly oversized. (Again, this is based on my stature. These boots are true European sizing (and don't come in a size 1/2). I wear size 9 1/2 shoes and if they're out of stock I always take a size 10. NO I bought THESE BOOTS a half size smaller (size 9 Alphinestars) based on other reviews recommendations and it is true that a size 9 fit my foot perfectly and left some room which makes running and riding very comfortable If you have a wide foot you may need to resize Cons: a little pricey (but worth it when they protect as well as they look and last for years) you have to wear a looser/relaxed fit jeans to have them can easily be pulled over the boots. The reason is that they have a hard shell on the boot. Not as flexible boot as I am used to.So I had to go through a little learning curve.shift on my motorr ad (Suzuki V-Strom) fully to the highest position, making it convenient to put your toe under the lever to shift up. And even then, it took me a few rides to get used to moving my foot under the switch and pulling it out from under the switch. There are "derailleur extensions/mods" that you can purchase for almost any motorcycle to position the derailleur in the optimum position. But now that I've learned to move with these boots, I haven't looked at these accessories. Conclusion: If these boots last a few years, I will buy them again.
