Review on ๐ŸŽจ Tsukineko Baby Powder Kaleidacolor Dye Inkpad - 5-Color Selection by Dawn Fischer

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Slightly more technique required

I typically make and sell 150-200 greeting cards a year to help our local library and I love making some of the backgrounds with multicolored ink pads. Kaleidacolor is Tsukineko's multicolored ("rainbow") ink pad that should provide a solid surface of ink if used after the stamps are pushed together. There is a button that makes it easy to move the pads next to each other. The bad news is that the button extends beyond the individual ink pads, so you can't get the colors as close to the button as possible unless you place the padding at the very edge of the desktop so that when you stomp the button into the space looms. Even with this technique, the colors that were pushed together did not lay down evenly. The yellow in particular was difficult to stamp (see customer photo). However, when I used the "stipple" technique, I got a nice, random set of colors to decorate the Easter egg on the client's A2 (5.5" x 4.25") Easter card. I like the sliding pads idea, it just takes a little more engineering to make it really work.

Pros
  • Pads slide apart for storage to keep colors fresh and natural and prevent color migration; While the blocks are separate, 5 separate ink pads await color-coordinated watercolor palettes and small stamping projects
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other sets
