Our son got this as an early Christmas gift and loved it. His brothers got the other Little Bits kits and all were thrilled. Half the fun of these toys is putting them together. The directions must be easy to follow because all of our kids were able to do them pretty easily (7 year old needed adult help but it wasn't a headache!). IThe directions for the kids to follow are on the app, which I normally wouldn't like, but it's just a simple instructional video that they loved. The toy does not require the app to then play with. It becomes a lot of different inventions that can be disassembled and re-assembled. I definitely recommend this as a Christmas gift for 9-12 year olds - they will love them! And if you like it you should check out the other little bits. We will be getting these for some of our god children this season!
