Works great. I use good coffee and filtered water. It takes about 10 minutes for water to get into the upper chamber. If you hear the cooking sound, turn it off, otherwise your coffee may burn. Run a few batches of cheap coffee first to top it off. Do not fill the filter completely. Don't use soap in it and never wash it in the dishwasher! That makes 6 Italian-sized cups, but only two American-style coffees. I give this to my Italian friends and family as an occasional gift (along with Latazza coffee of course).
