These microwave bowl holders do the job well. They aren't even warm when I take the plates out of the microwave. From large soup bowls to traditional utensil bowls, every size bowl I've used has been fine. I avoided the washing machine and cleaned the bowl holders in the sink because the fabric would likely curl, attract lint and look unsightly. . However, they don't take long to air dry, so cleaning by hand isn't a problem.
