Microphone and speaker problems. Strange design.

It is what it seems. I only have one complaint, but it's pretty significant. When I'm connected to a controller, the microphone on my headset doesn't work, and if I don't plug in said headphones, the game system audio plays through the built-in speaker on the keyboard. Bad by design. What were they thinking?
