Great device, I need more information which I will provide. I'm writing this for the 30% of users who will buy this device specifically for video playback, and even more for the 10% who want to use USB to watch videos (due to the much larger storage space and ease of use compared to DVD replacements ) This tells the device that it supports mp4 and avi. technically this is both true and false. Most Avis will work, but many mp4s use the newer HD codec, which this device simply doesn't support. You'll need a video converter (I used Divx) to convert your files from mkv and other uncommon formats (including the newer mp4). I was able to get the moving version of the cutscenes in God of War 4/All Sonic for Hire/Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies to work by running them through a converter. Most mp4 converters try to convert files to higher quality codecs that are not compatible with BOSS system. Make sure you legally own the material you want to convert. If you are using a DIVX converter, choose the home theater output, higher quality outputs will not work. If you want your PASSENGER to watch the video while driving, or if you don't want to run a wire from your device to the backup light/wire lock, ground the brake wire. Do not connect the brake cable to positive voltage or other negative terminals, only to the vehicle ground cable or frame ground cable. If you use this method on a driver while driving, you will be breaking the law while putting innocent lives at risk. Be responsible and adult. If you're traveling but don't have a TV, this unit has an AV input so you can buy a cheap HDMI to AV converter for $10 so you can connect your Xbox One or PS4 to the unit and the Playing Passenger lets you drive, or allows you to play alone, park and enjoy your time away from civilization. (assuming you have a 12v converter for these consoles, you are at a campsite with connectors or you have an inverter). Most of these AV converters use USB for power, which you can easily plug into another USB power dongle or into your cigarette lighter socket. USB port. When towing an RV trailer, I use the camera's AV input to run an additional rear-facing camera from the back of my RV to the front, so I can use it as a replacement for a useless rear-view mirror when towing. The addition of these cables from BOSS has been a real boon. Some cars, like my 98 Ram, have a hole under the unit for hanging cords freely, other cars may require you to drill or saw a hole underneath for the AV inputs to fit, but it's worth it in my opinion, and those other half of the reason I bought the device.
