Is working. with accessories

I bought this radio as a backup because of its ILS function. Ground Test #1 I tried to do a radio ground test from the cockpit using a BOSE X headset and headset adapter. When I turned on the microphone, I had profuse bleeding in my airways. I switched the headset to a Dave Clark and got the same response. I've tried different communication settings, but nothing is better. Ground Test #2 I bought an antenna kit that allows you to move the antenna. It turned out to be the answer. The antenna somehow caught the headset adapter. As soon as I moved the antenna to the windshield, the bleeding stopped. The earth heard me loud and clear. Air Test #1 ILS Approach I called the control room and told them I was running a "simulation" power outage and using a portable to film an ILS approach. The antenna was on the windshield and immediately fixed to the localizer as soon as I was on the approach. It also picked the correct course so I didn't have to "set" the approach course. The glideslope was intermittent at best and not an accurate indicator. The localizer held course and then suddenly went 2-5 degrees off course. Luckily I used a preflight with the approach plates to match what the radio was telling me. I would NOT use it as a backup without the approach plates to help guide. Air Test #1 Communications I "missed" and told the tower I was going to use the backup radio. On the BOSE X headsets, I used a wireless PTT, not an external one, with minimal noise cancellation and maximum volume, I could barely hear the tower in the pattern. Also, on a full charge during an ILS approach when I disconnected it suddenly seemed like the battery was almost dead. I know I have a 4 port DC adapter so I have constant power from the radio. I will try to contact again. I still doubt the possibilities of losing full power from the plane. I will continue to "test" different situations and see how the radio works. Update #1 Real World Usage. I landed within 10 miles of Class C airspace and after repeated contact attempts switched to the walkie-talkie. FTA-750L with antenna array was unreadable on approach beyond 10 nautical miles at 2000 hrs on a clear day. This radio could not serve as a reliable backup when my main radio failed. I was unable to enter class C airspace and had to return to base. It is best to assume that this radio is only suitable for a very limited emergency landing distance during an emergency squawk.
