Review on Cheetah Mounts APMEB Universal Projector Ceiling Mount with Adjustable Extension Pole & Twisted Veins 15' HDMI Cable: Ultimate Solution for Projector Installation by Will Ridpath

Good value for money. Read on if you need a short extension

I purchased this mount to use with an Optoma HD142X projector. For my setup I needed a 13" ceiling drop for my 120" screen and I read from another reviewer that they were able to trim this mount to shorten it. So I ordered this one with the intention of doing the same. and I was able to do it without too much trouble - here are my observations: 1. The Optoma HD142X has 3 mounting holes. I wanted to position the mount directly over the lens and through trial and error this can be achieved by using short clamps and flipping one of them over (see photo #1). The supplied screws are compatible.2. With the extensions out of the box, that's 21 inches. from the top to the center of the lens (when fully compressed to its minimum length). After trimming both extensions, I was able to trim this length down to my desired 13 inches. I used a saw with a metal blade and it sawed easily. I checked everything on the kitchen table before going to the cinema (see photo #2). 3. My ceiling joists go through every 16" and I installed a short assembly with the 2 screws provided (it was solid). There is a small gap between the inner and outer tubes, but after tightening the screws it became tight and my image remained stable (see photo #3). This all took about an hour and in general I am satisfied with the cost of this mount. The final setup is a little fiddly, but since I'll only be doing this once I think it's a minor inconvenience. There is a small gap between the inner and outer tubes, but once the screws were properly tightened it became firm and my picture was held steady (see photo #3). The whole thing took about an hour and overall I am it I am satisfied with the cost of these fasteners. The final setup is a little tricky, but since I'll only be doing this once I think that it's a bit impractical. I checked everything on the kitchen table before going to the cinema (see photo #2).3.
