Review on Dragon Scale Metal Dice Set For D&D, Polyhedral RPG Dice With Leather Bag - Orange Blue-Golden Number by Seth Wood

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The perfect drow-themed dice doesn't exi--

Several Gen Cons ago, there was an opportunity to collect special drow-themed dice by performing a variety of tasks. For the uninitiated, drow are "dark elves" in Dungeons & Dragons, the counterpart to "light elves" and they specialize in spider-themed weapons and armor. I managed to collect five out of the six dice, and it has bugged me (pun intended!) ever since. Well, not anymore!First, the basics: This is a metal set that's hollow. The dice are larger as a result. It also means there can be legibility problems if there isn't sufficient contrast between the numbers and the background. With gold numbering on a black background, that's not the case here. The metal has a nice heft but is still springy thanks to being hollow. But really we're here for the spiders. There's a spider-like pattern on a web behind each number. You can see the spider best in the four-sided, where the numbers are in the corners. If you're fond of playing a certain dual-wielding drow ranger, this is the dice for you. For the rest of us, break out these dice when a drow matriarch arrives and you'll have your players quivering in fear.

Pros
  • Improved rolling accuracy
Cons
  • The orange blue-golden number combination may not be suited to every D&D campaign setting
