So my father also bought one. Perfect little pocket camera with good zoom. Personally I gravitate towards the larger Pro model (Lumix GF-1) but alternatively it could be a nice complement to a DSLR. an extra battery or grab a small car charger (Duracell makes a good 100w charger for $70) and take your charger with you. Another downside is that it uses Sony "Memory Stick Duo" media instead of an SD card, so it's not compatible with my other camera/GPS/laptop/UPS adapters. My wife has a different Sony so she's probably fine.
