So a little smaller than I expected, the wings must have been measured to the edge of the tray. It seems to hold up pretty well, but I wouldn't trust it to hold a heavy power tool. I bought some heavy duty N45 magnets to give it more holding power. They cost over nine dollars each, but I want security to know that a shelf really is a shelf.
