I try not to carry it by the strap on the lid because most bottles break, but that's normal. And I'm happy to report that the straps on the two bottles I bought didn't snap. I use one every day at work, I've taken them hiking and kayaking. Great bottle to carry a full 32 ounces of water (or whatever). I am 100% satisfied with the Nalgene bottle and will be buying more. Should get a color to match my paddleboard!
