It does what it says on the tin. However, it has its pros and cons. On the plus side, it removes multiple coats of old paint well, including paint containing lead. I chose this product looking for a dust free solution to remove 12-15 coats of 100+ year old paint off this door and frame as safely as possible and it really helped. It doesn't leave a sticky mess like other paint removers and washes off with water. You must follow the instructions CAREFULLY. This result required two THICK coats over the course of two days with partial removal in between. I used a hard spatula and a multi-bladed paint scraper to remove it. Cons - it took A LOT of work - only about 12 man hours to get this result. Of course, there are many details inlaid with trim that require special attention, but still require a lot of scratching. It was NOT as easy as it seemed from the description. Being water-based and acidic, no matter how careful I was, it caused damage to the wood; Due to the softening caused by the product, there was a lot of peeling, chipping and curling. So be careful when using it. Also, I would suggest covering each application with plastic tape to retain moisture and prevent evaporation; it quickly dissipated in the air, causing me to use more than I wanted. I only used 2/3 gallons on this one door, making this an expensive option for large projects. I need to rent about 100 square meters. Foot surfaces in the same room and because of the cost I probably won't be using this product given the cost and man hour factors. I can get the same results with a paint stripping heat gun for a lot less money and time with good ventilation and still have a heat gun when I'm done. One star must be avoided as it takes too much time and money for the end result.
