This is a perfectly acceptable steel awl, exactly the same as the one I had before after many years of use.
This is a perfectly acceptable steel awl the same as I used to have which I have abused after many years of use and is slightly bent. While the old one is still good (I bent it open and hammered it with a rubber mallet), I wanted a perfectly even one, and that's sometimes important with jewelry.
