This Volumious Primer Mascara from L'Oreal Paris Cosmetics can lengthen and fill your mascara or clump your lashes - it all depends You use the right you don. You'll also find that some mascaras simply don't require a primer. Before you even try using mascara primer, make sure you have a basic, inexpensive lash comb. Once you have your lash comb, all you have to do is follow these steps: 1.) Make sure your lashes are clean. 2.) You will be applying one eye at a time - foundation, then mascara before applying the other eye. 3.) Use the primer the same way you would use your mascara. Apply it the same way you apply mascara. 4.) Once you are done with the base coat, run the comb through your lashes. It is very important to remove any clumps to make them smooth for mascara. 5.) After running the comb through your lashes, wait just 30 seconds to apply the mascara. You don't want to wait any longer because the foundation will then be too dry and peel off. You only need the primer for curing, not for drying. That's why you make up one eye at a time, because you only have 30 seconds from using the eyelash comb to applying the mascara. 6.) Now apply mascara as usual. 7.) Repeat on the other eye. My last job was in a cosmetics factory where I was in the quality control department and using cosmetics properly will bring you the best results. I use different mascaras depending on what's on sale, what free samples I have, or just to try new ones to see if there's anything better than what I'm currently using. I've had very different results with different mascaras. I have several L'Oreal mascaras. This mascara primer has made every L'Oreal mascara I own thicker and longer. This foundation almost doubled the thickness and length of my L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara. I tried this foundation with a sample of Chanel's Super Curl Lengthening Mascara and it was basically a little longer, not thicker. I also saw some extra length when using this primer with Calvin Klein CK One Mascara. These more expensive designer mascaras had a bit more length but no more volume. I last tried this mascara primer with my trusty old Revlon mascaras. There was no difference with my Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume Mascara. Then I tried my latest Revlon Ultimate All-In-One Mascara - again no difference. I then tried this primer with Revlon Lash Potion Mascara and the primer made my lashes look a little longer but not thicker. Finally, I used this primer with Maybelline Mascara - that was the biggest difference - much thicker and noticeably longer. I have used an eyeshadow primer in the past which can make a significant difference depending on the color of the eyeshadow. I found the same to be said for this mascara primer - it can make a world of difference depending on the brand. The biggest difference really came when used with L'Oreal and Maybelline own brands. Since this foundation has nothing to do with mascaras of some brands, I give it 4 STARS as it can give some mascaras really impressive results. I hope these tips help you with your mascara base and make sure you have an eyelash comb. Because I use eyeliner, every bit of length and volume in my lashes helps my eyeliner look great. So if a primer helps add length and volume, it's worth buying.
