Glowshift is definitely better than other big brands I've used. I used an Autometer from their factory match line and it was rubbish. I had to go through three broadcast blocks to get a good one and the autometer gauge also had a sticky arrow. I had to click on it to get the reading. It also had screw posts and knife clamps. I needed something accurate and reliable, and Autometer didn't fit. Decided to try glowshift. The glowshift transmitter unit has a ground wire so unlike other brands you don't have to figure out how to get a good ground for the device. Simply lay the cables and connect the pressure gauge. The connection is excellent. No need to move that bar there, that bar the other way and hope the knife connectors don't pop out. And that's exactly the right thing. I can really tell what the temperature is and I don't have to guess because of the vague markings. The colors are pleasant and close enough to the standard lighting. I use this in my 2012 ram that I tow. A 2-1/16 inch gauge can be pushed into the small drawer opening in the center console. I used ABS plastic and made a frame. I routed the wires through a small hole I drilled in the drawer hole. on the dashboard and then pushed the sensor into the hole. The only problem is that the shifter partially obscures the view when in gear, but I can live with that. The difference between "black" and "tinted" is that "tinted" lenses are dark to darken "black" lenses when the sensor is off, while "black" lenses are clear lenses use.
